Après notre aventure en Amazonie, nous avons passé 2 jours a Puyo histoire de se reposer, faire la lessive et mettre le blog a jour...rien de bien passionnant!
Le 23, nous sommes arrivés a Latacunga, point de départ du fameux "Quilotoa Loop" ...périple au coeur des Andes, de villages en villages, pour admirer le cratère de volcan rempli d´eau turquoise ¨..." La Laguna Quilotoa", splendide!
Nous sommes donc passés par Saquisili pour visiter l´un des plus grands marchés d´Equateur, ce ne fut pas l´un de ses marchés touristiques mais un énorme marché ou absolument tout se vend et tout se troque entre populations indigènes....intéressant!
Le lendemain, nous sommes partis directement de Latacunga pour Quilotoa...après avoir admiré le lac-cratère, nous avons cherchés une chambre a Quilotoa faute de transport au prochain village... bon changement de programme car nous avons passès la soirèe avec tous les clients de l´auberge et avons fait de bien jolies rencontres....commencons par Veronika, une guide Equatorienne vivant a Quito avec un Bordelais...un couple de Francais avec leur fille, un prof Americain, et un couple du Colorado en vadrouille a vélo depuis 14 mois depuis l´Alaska jusqu´en Argentine (Ushuaia)...au total 24 mois de voyage.... Age? 50! Incroyable, non?!
Le lendemain, nous avons du patiemment attendre un ..."moyen de transport" pour se rendre au prochain village, Chugchilan...quelle histoire!! On s´est retrouvés a l´arrière d´un camion bloqués entre un lama, un cochon, un chien, un poulet et des locaux complétement ivres....Wild!
Nous avons ensuite déjeuné a Chugchilan puis pris un autre bus pour Sigchos puis depuis Sigchos une connection pour Latacunga....quel périple mais...la beauté des paysages nous a hypnotisé durant ces éreintants trajets en bus!!
A notre retour a Latacunga, nous tombons par hasard sur Ralph et Pat, les Americains en vélo, nous décidons de se faire un resto a 4 le soir meme pour gouter aux spécialités locales a base de porc....chouette soirèe en charmante compagnie!

After our jungle trip, we rested 2 days in Puyo...did not do much honestly...internet, laundry...siesta, siesta y siesta!
From Puyo, we headed down to Latacunga, gateway town for the famous Quilotoa Loop... trip from villages to villages in the Andes....we started on thursday, market day in Saquisili, a very colourful market not touristic at all, the next day we took a bus from Latacunga directly to Quilotoa where we visited the gorgeous crater lake...we had to stay in Quilotoa as we could not find a way to get to the next village... We had different plan but at the end we had a lovely night in the "hostel", we met lot of lovely travelers, a French Family, an American teacher on hols and a 50 year´s old couple from Colorado on a cycling trip from Alaska to Usuahaia....2 years trip....which gave us some ideas for a next trip!
The next day, we had a very special journey to Chugchilan, basically we were stuck in the back of a truck between a llama, a pig, a dog, chicken and drunk local people...it was ....WILD!
We had lunch in Chugchilan and got a bus to Latacunga with a short stop in Sigchos....when we got back to Latacunga, we met Pat and Ralph, the "Cycling couple" and we decided to have dinner all together at night to taste the local dishes...we had a lovely night!
The quilotoa loop is a very interesting trip in the Ande´s heart, a rewarding trip even though transport can be Very tricky!
